I have been neglectful, but here are some thoughts I have been thinking lately:
1.) How is it so easy for some people to be so effortlessly cruel? And additionally, why is this a commonplace in daily life?
2.) If goose + goose = geese, why doesn’t moose + moose = meese?
3.) There is a huge difference between being a Nice Person and being a Kind Person:
Nice people are almost synonymous to pretty wallpaper; they’re there, they’re not really causing any issues, stating opinions, or contributing much more than a simple, pleasant presence.
Kind people, however, know when to say fuck you to the social norms, and go above and beyond to do what is Right. Sometimes doing the right thing is not equivalent to doing the nice thing.
This is my thinking, at least, because in my life I have noticed that the “nice people” have never had enough balls to stand up for what is right and rarely do more than what is necessary, while some of the kindest and most genuine people I know are blunt, critical (in a constructive way) and aren’t afraid to upset the status quo with their actions because of their belief in true justice.
4.) Why is my facial hair still not here? I am in my twenties already, damnit. I am Asian, and until I hit my mid 40’s I will probably look like a ten year old. I must grow facial hair soon to stop the side eyes whenever I go to a bar, and also to look like i’m not playing dress up when I’m wearing suits. I want to wear a suit and look like a man, not a man child, damnit.
5.) Why is our society built on the ideals that you are expected to dedicate yourself to school for a third of your life, work tirelessly for another third, and just sit there for the remaining third, because you’re too old and tired to do anything. We should be encouraging the youth to experiment in different things to find what they love doing, and also remind them that it is okay if that search takes time; I would rather have a doctor who is genuinely interested in saving my life, versus a doctor who resents their job but did it because they were forced into it by their parents or the lure of money.
6.) I just used the phrase “encouraging the youth” in this blog which is a huge sign that I am getting old, dammnit.
7.) I love all of you.
